The Electromagnetodynamics of Fluids
Published in Hardcover by Krieger Publishing Company (October, 1988)
Authors: William F. Hughes and F.J. Young
Average review score:

the electromagnetodynamics of fluids
I think this is a very interesting book, I 'm a student and this is the first time, I read a book about this theme, but I consider that this book expain very well the inflence of the electromagnetic fields applied to the fluids and to the plasmas, and explain the relation of the Maxwell's equations to the kinematics of the fluids, and the Nevier-Stokes equations, nevertheless I think that for a new reader about this theme, must check first some others books about electromagnetics.

The Fox in the Attic
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (June, 1961)
Authors: Richard Hughes and Arthur Warrer
Average review score:

informative but disappointing
Richard Hughes wrote High Wind in Jamaica, one of the strangest and most compelling books that I've ever read. His next novel, The Fox in the Attic, is a well written and intelligent fictional account of life in Europe between the two world wars. A sophisticated, educated, and upper class Englishman visits his relatives in Germany and becomes aware of tensions between Bavaria and Munich and tensions between republicanism and monarchy. There is very little understanding between him and his relatives. The English feel revulsion towards the idea of war; the Germans, on the other hand, are determined to fight again, but to win this time. Hughes describes this very well. There are some notes that will remind the reader of High Wind in Jamaica: some charming descriptions of children and some concerns about what it means to be "I". The novel is odd, and the characters are difficult to understand, but High Wind in Jamaica was magical with characters that one will always remember. I'm not sure how I would have felt about this wook had I not read HW in Jamaica first. Recommended for people wanting a different viewpoint on Hitlers rise to power in Germany.

ASE Study Guide Review
Basic good study guide with several questions/answers in ASE format on the Automobile Exams A1-A8, L1. Weakness is that he does not explain why he answers the question so. Some of the answers like in all study manuals can be debated. No truck/body/parts etc exams

Isla Grande
Published in Paperback by Silver Mountain Press (January, 1994)

Average review score:

Has the author to this book really been to Panamá?
Well I have mixed commentary regarding this book. First off it's accuracy on the atmosphere during the Noriega and Escobar reign are pretty well represented. But when the author to this book generalized the Panamanian population as being an ignorant, immoral and pathetic people he was mistaken. In this book it seems that every woman is "una zorra" and every man is half-witted could careless type of man. As with many countries Panama has had its internal corruption and immorality, but the way it was depicted in this book was only something to enthrall the reader. Although I fount the book vaguely educational my wife thought it was fun to read because of its romance novel-esque. The writing to the book is something that I would have wrote in 6th grade literature class for pure shock value. I only recommend the book to people who want to get an idea of what it is like to live in a third world country during the reign of terror such as Noriega. Those who lived under Noriega's wing were well taken care of, those who didn't were poor and those Americans who lived there at the time were always harrassed and maybe it's their fault. But to get a feel for that is the only reason to read this book unless you are 15 and want to read something lustful and violent.

Japanese Language and People
Published in Paperback by BBC Consumer Publishing (11 July, 1991)
Authors: Richard Smith, Brian Moeran, Trevor Hughes-Parry, and Lucy Su
Average review score:

A mix of language and culture
Let me begin by stating that this is a serious piece of language learning material. It's not a "Learn 1,000 Japanese Words And Phrases While Watching Friends" book. (That's a plus.) In this book they cover all the "usual" beginner material but they also tell you how to behave properly. (That's also a plus.) However... it wasn't very fun. Serious and detailed but it missed that little extra that made you want to keep going. Also, the audio material was a bit limited.

A man called Hughes : the life and times of Seamus Hughes, 1881-1943
Published in Unknown Binding by Veritas ()
Author: Thomas J. Morrissey
Average review score:

An Ordinary Man at the Right Time
Seamus Hughes played a useful role in Irish trades unions, the 1916 Rising, the first Irish government and particularly as the first Irish broadcaster. This book has tried to set him up as a model for Catholic activism but this seems a mistake to me; it slants the story somewhat. More interesting is the lack of heroic qualities, the plain normality of the man and perhaps it is the lack of heroes that most needs remarking of the new Irish state. [warning: his grandson writing] This book is well written and offers some insights into the period.

This book has some interesting exercises in it, some of which require quite demanding thinking. However there are no answers at the back of the book which means you need to plan well in advance to use it.

A Montana Mavericks Christmas (Silhouette Special Edition, 1286)
Published in Paperback by Silhouette (December, 1999)
Authors: Susan Mallery and Karen Hughes
Average review score:

Christmas Time in Whitehorn¿.
A two-in one book, "A Montana Mavericks Christmas" features two stories in the series.

The first, "Married In Whitehorn" by Susan Mallery is the story of new comer Angela Sheppard. Angela, is widowed and pregnant. Alone, she has made her way to Whitehorn looking for a job as a teacher at the elementary school, and for a fresh start. While coming out of the interview for her new position, she is mugged and left with amnesia. With no place else to go, and no one else to help her, handsome Sheriff's Deputy Shane McBride steps in. He offers his home and his protection to pretty Angela. It seems another complication from her attack has arisen, the muggers not getting what they wanted from Angela, kidnapped five year old Sara McCallum, and Angela is the only witness. If only she could remember! Shane soon finds his neat little bachelor world shaken up when he begins to fall into a very domestic routine with the now recovering Angela, and he has a complication of his own. Shane is falling hard for Angela, and the feelings are mutual!

The second story is called "Born in Whitehorn" and is by Karen Hughes. It is the story of Native American Cheyenne Leah Nighthawk and handsome doctor, Jeremy Winters. Leah had returned back home to the reservation to care for her dying mother. Finding comfort in the arms of Jeremy had been a blessing when her mother died. But a few weeks later it turned into a nightmare when Leah discovered she was pregnant. Leah's dreams lay elsewhere, not on the reservation. So, she hid from Jeremy, letting him believe that she had gone back to her life outside of Whitehorn. Then one snowy night Leah finds herself alone and in labor. Who should come driving by to her rescue? Dr. Jeremy Winters!

Jeremy is stunned to find Leah still in Whitehorn, let alone pregnant and in labor with his twins! This time he isn't going to let her slip out of his life, and certainly not with his babies! The only thing Jeremy wants for Christmas is beautiful Leah and his babies.

As a whole the book is a good read and the stories light and enjoyable. An excellent Christmas read, and of course a must for all fans of the Montana Mavericks miniseries by Silhouette.
